Our Story

"MilkyWay be well" was founded in 2021 by Martin and Barbara Bořil. They both bring a wealth of experience in the healthcare sector, particularly in the pharmaceutical industry, where they have spent more than a decade in various marketing and sales roles at leading pharmaceutical companies (MSD, AstraZeneca, GSK, Novartis, Sanofi) including senior leadership roles.

In his last role, Martin had the opportunity to meet Associate Professor Miroslav Světlák, Head of the Department of Medical Psychology and Psychosomatics at MUNI Faculty of Medicine. Together they worked on the creation of an innovative mobile application aimed at improving the mental health of cancer patients.

During the collaboration, Martin was immediately impressed by the way the research team combines research with clinical practice and especially by the courage to try new tools and approaches in the field of mental eHealth. Our shared enthusiasm in finding new ways to improve mental health led to an official collaboration, and as of April 2023 we became the first ever spin-off company of the Faculty of Medicine and the 22nd spin-off company of Masaryk University.

The name "MilkyWay be well" embodies our vision of empowering individuals to find their own unique path towards optimal health and well-being. Inspired by the vastness and beauty of the Milky Way Galaxy, we strive to bring together diverse components and processes of the human brain, and explore the endless possibilities of its potential.

Just as the Milky Way is composed of countless stars and planets, so our brain is composed of numerous components and processes that are closely related and influence each other. Similarly, just as exploring the universe is demanding and constantly evolving, researching mental health and improving it requires seeking new ways and, above all, collaboration between experts from different fields.

Our vision is to become a catalyst for positive and sustainable change in the field of mental health, across sectors, countries, and borders. We bring solutions based on the latest scientific insights, extensive clinical practice, and cutting-edge technologies.

Our values

  • Employee health and satisfaction

We believe that employee mental health and satisfaction are a priority for every organisation. With our solutions, we can help minimise the risks associated with mental health issues and help employees find their way to a happier and more fulfilling life.
  • Science and innovation

We integrate the insights of evidence-based medicine with modern technology in mental eHealth to provide the best services and tools to measure and improve mental health in an organisation. Our work is based on rigorous scientific research and the application of the latest scientific knowledge.
  • Supporting science and the Faculty of Medicine MUNI

Our solution not only helps organizations, but also supports mental health research and the Faculty of Medicine MUNI itself.
  • Sustainable business

We value the mental and physical health of the company, we are developing a sustainable approach in business where sustainability is not just an empty word, but above all an opportunity for positive change.
